Ampla won the 2006 M2M Value Chain Awards for this AMI implementation that is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
“Remote-monitoring technology is a crucial part of the package Ampla has developed to fight energy theft,” says Marcelo Llévenes, president of Ampla. “Besides the distribution-network changes we have implemented, which have prevented the most usual forms of energy theft, the use of remote-monitoring technology to read the clients’ energy consumption denied the possibility of direct intervention and fraud on the meter.”
Project started in January 2005 and is ongoing. Scope is 400 Thousand connected residential meter and 20 thousand Commercial/Industrial Meters.
